FORMS ACADEMY
Forms Academy (FA) specializes in technique and skill acquisition.
FA defines Technique as the ability to perform a task whereas Skill is then defined as the ability to perform the task under pressure.
FA specializes in the development of technique and its transition into skill through our unique, science-based approach. Through employing a unique series of methodologies for developing youth soccer players, Forms Academy has demonstrated continuity and replication in the success of our programs.
We believe that "Technique Conquers All" and we strive for "Progress Not Perfection," two mantras communicated in every session as we focus on technique above everything else.
While we agree that the Foundational Phase of a soccer player's development is important (Age 6-11), Forms Academy also believes that the Pre-foundational Phase (2-6) of development is critical to both the quality and rate of development acquired during the Foundational Phase, subject to the individual's physiological maturity level, and therefore we begin working with players as young as age two (2).
"What's in a name...?"
"Forms" is a nod to Socrates' Theory of Forms; Forms being the most perfect rendition of a physical object or expression, such as technique, skill, and the approach or training towards technique and skill acquisition (T&SA). Socrates posits that perfection of technique, or any Form, can only exist theoretically, as an idea, and though we may come close, true perfection is impossible. Therefore, always striving to improve our own Forms (Forms of technique and skill) with the understanding that perfection is impossibly dynamic, we make progress (Progress Not Perfection) during the process.
